ABOUT RINCON, PUERTO RICO, USA
Rincón is known as "Pueblo del Surfing" (the surfing town) and "El Pueblo de los Bellos Atardeceres" (the town of beautiful sunsets). Rincón was founded in 1771 by Don Luis de Añasco.
The town of Rincón is located in the Western Coastal Valley, west of Añasco and Aguada. To the north, nestles between "La Cadena" Mountains and a series of beaches facing the Atlantic to the north and the Caribbean to the south. The half-dozen reef-lined Atlantic beaches have become a winter mecca for skilled surfers since the World Surfing Championship was held here nearly twenty years ago. Endangered humpback whales visit in the winter.
The Punta Higuero Lighthouse was built by the Spaniards in the early 1890s, rebuilt after an earthquake in 1921. This lighthouse still in use and it uses an unmanned 26,000-candlepower rotating beacon.

Añasco is known as La Ciudad Donde los Dioses Mueren (the city where the gods die) and El Pueblo Del Hojaldre. The town was founded in October 18, 1733 by Luis de Añasco.
The city was named after Don Luis de Añasco.
Añasco is located in Costal Valley of the West region, bordering the Mona Passage to the west, north of Mayagüez and Las Marías; south of Rincón, Aguada and Moca; and west of San Sebastián and Las Marías.
The surrounding areas produces sugar and fruits. Añasco has been long known for producing the best moonshine rum in Puerto Rico.

Rincon's El Faro lighthouse offers stunning ocean views, and is one of just two passive whale watching parks in the world (the other is in South Africa). Surrounding areas offer interesting side trips like coffee plantations, spectacular mountain driving, mini rain forests, the Rio Camuy Cave Park, Cabo Rojo's salt flats, Arecibo Observatory's massive radio telescope, and the biologically wondrous Phosphorescent Bay. Golfing is available 25 minutes north in Aguadilla; casino gambling is 25 minutes south in Mayaguez. While small and informal, Rincon offers many fine restaurants plus all the services vacationers need. Medical services are available; a regional medical center will be completed during 1997.
